From my experience of doing presentation and public speaking coaching with a senior manager at a leading Japanese finance firm, I found that, the first 2 points (problem analysis v solution focus and extensive versus limited background) were a particular challenge. It has been interesting seeing his often reluctant transition to a more international presentation style. I would like to highlight that his Japanese style was great with Japanese audiences but the reason he had to adjust his delivery and structure style was because, as part of his job as general manager, he had to give monthly presentations, often in various locations around the world, invariably to western audiences.

Hi Kazu San

Thanks for comment, very interesting point and much appreciated. Indeed the more the world "Globalises" the more we have to be prepared, and willing to adjust our own "way of thinking" and "communication style," especially when going on overseas placements. Leadership development is a huge area, with so many suggested leadership styles, but again, as with all global business issues cultural differences play a huge role in how successful a particular leadership style may be. Perhaps one of the most challenging aspects modern leaders face is motivating and communicating with multi-national teams, when quite often, a different style is needed on an individual basis, due in large part to, cross cultural differences in behaviours and expectations.
